About Pastor Hart
On September 1, 1921, Ralph Hart was born to James Hart and Annie Hart, in Alba, Texas was the fifth child born to the couple. His older siblings were Lena, Sonny, Alma, and Maurice. When he was born, his father asked the Lord to make a preacher out of him.
When he was two years old, they moved to Cash, Texas. This is where Doyle was born. Ralph and Maurice attended elementary school there.
James Hart believed in the belt and Bible to raise his children. Every night before going to bed, James Hart would call all of the children in and they would all knee and pray.
James Hart was a sharecropper in Olten, Texas. He preached at church on Sundays. Each of the boys had to pick cotton, milk cows, feed the chickens and pigs. They didn't have a lot of money, but they had a lot of love.
As he grew older, God began to remind him that he wanted him to be a preacher. He attended church regularly but mostly because his father made him. He enjoyed the services but usually they meant nothing more than a social gathering.
Ralph Hart witnessed trials his father endured to preach the word of God. He vowed never to be a preacher.
In Dallas, James Hart became pastor of South Side Assembly of God. One day the deacon decided his sermons were getting to hot for him. They told him to stop preaching on sin so hard or else they would stop bringing groceries and tithe money out. The following Sunday he preached a hell fired sermon. Later that day, he was informed that he would receive no more support from the church. The Lord sent angels to supply their needs, by leaving food by the door.
As Ralph Hart entered high school, he found he needed more money. He would sell magazines and had a newspaper route. Ralph got a job delivering telegrams for Dallas Western Union Office. He became more involved with the world around him and less involved with the things of God.
On December 11, 1935 Ralph went to school as usually. Later that day he went to work. He started to delivered telegrams. Around 10'oclock that night a car hit him. His body was tossed like a rag doll in air. He was rushed to Parkland Hospital were he was pronounced dead.
The doctors told his parents he wasn't going to make it. James Hart told the doctors he believed Jesus would make a way. The doctor wanted to perform surgery on him. His father did not permit it.
One day James Hart decided to take Ralph out of the hospital. The doctors, nurses and policemen tried to stop him. God brought them home. There were reporters at the house asking questions. The newspapers carried the story of the "Crackpot Preacher who was letting his son died without any medical treatment."
Ralph Hart realized that his parents prayers weren't sufficient to save his soul. At that very moment he asked the Lord to forgive him. The virtue of God surged through his body. It started at his head. Where the skull had been split open the skin instantly cover it without a scar. The swelling left his body. His shoulder was crushed, mended itself and no trace could be found. The pain disappeared. He could move all his limbs. God completely restored him.
He finished high school and began working in an airplane factory. He was making good money, but he knew this was not the life for him.
In 1954, God called him and his brother Doyle Hart to Detroit, Michigan. Doyle and Ralph Hart came pitched a tent on Nine Mile Road near Van Dyke. The revival grew unit the tent became overcrowded. One night a storm came and blew the tent down and shortly afterwards Liberty Temple church was established.
